Internetwork Expert - Rack Rentals

I tried IE rack rentals and they are few things that I didn't like:



* I Couldn't find any support at this moment on phone.
* There is no way to access the routers directly from internet (access through the console server can kill a lot of your time because if you make connection to more than few devices at the same time and switch between them sometimes u cannot restore the old session and u get message that this line is already in use - clear the line).
it's Hard to get used with it but it's not impossible.
* I tried the IE support form and they answered me the day after I had posted it


Something positive:

* It's grate despite of these disadvantages.
* The greatest training company ever.

- use the same images for all routers (if you can)
- use 64 bit CPU (I haven't try it yet but 32bit CPU's on laptop
are not good enough, just extra recommendation)
- read the Hacki's forum
* don't use laptops for this ;-)

Dynamips Router emulator

Introduction

Dynamips is a Cisco router emulator written by Christophe Fillot. It emulates 2691, 3620, 3640, 3660, 3725, 3745, and 7206 hardware platforms, and runs standard IOS images. In Chris’ own words:



This kind of emulator would be useful to:

· Be used as a training platform, with software used in real world. It would allow people to become more familiar with Cisco devices, Cisco being the world leader in networking technologies ;

· Test and experiment features of Cisco IOS ;

· Check quickly configurations to be deployed later on real routers.



Of course, this emulator cannot replace a real router, it is simply a complementary tool to real labs for administrators of Cisco networks or people wanting to pass their CCNA/CCNP/CCIE exams.
